The $100 million Works for Tradies is a vital part of Queensland’s Economic Recovery Strategy: Unite and Recover for Queensland Jobs, to help the State recover from COVID-19.
This investment will see construction commence on more than 215 new social homes, supporting approximately 240 jobs in the construction sector.
Through Works for Tradies, we’ll draw on existing government landholdings, accelerate local construction and identify new opportunities for house and land packages to support the delivery of homes in high-growth areas. The 2020/21 commencement targets for the development areas are:

- Central Queensland: 25
- Darling Downs: 21
- Far North Queensland: 30

The Housing Construction Jobs Program supports more than 450 jobs each year, thousands of apprentice hours and provides contract and trade opportunities for local business and their supply networks.
