Guidance for step-free entry provisions
We are working with the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) to develop guidance and training materials to help industry understand and apply the new Livable Housing Design Standard (PDF, 2.63MB).
To help industry interpret the new step-free entry provisions, we have prepared the Australian Building Codes Board Liveable Housing Design Standard: Implementation of step-free entry provisions report (PDF, 2534.69 KB).
This report examines the step-free path of travel required from the site entry to the house entry for detached housing in a suburban context.
It also includes case studies (PDF, 5878.66 KB) to demonstrate the practical implementation of, and appropriate exemptions to, the National Construction Code 2022 provisions.
This report will form part of the broader accessible homes guidance materials to be released by the ABCB.
