Sustainable liquid fuels strategy - options and opportunities paper
Queensland is accelerating the uptake of sustainable liquid fuels through development of the state’s sustainable liquid fuels strategy, a commitment under the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan.
The strategy will increase the use of sustainable liquid fuels as we transition from fossil-based liquid fuels to next-generation future fuels, hydrogen and electrification.
Increased use of sustainable liquid fuels will play a significant role in achieving Queensland’s emissions targets of 30 per cent reduction on 2005 levels by 2030 and net zero by 2050.
In May we released an options and opportunities paper (PDF, 2442.1 KB) to seek input from a broad range of stakeholders ranging from fuel users, fuel producers, and sellers across many sectors.
This paper is the first step in developing the strategy and seeks feedback on the opportunities, options, priorities, and actions informing the strategy’s development.
Have your say
Feedback on the options and opportunities paper (PDF, 2442.1 KB) formally closed on 23 August 2023. Should you wish to provide comment towards the ongoing development of Queensland’s sustainable liquid fuels strategy a request can be made via email to fuelsstrategy@epw.qld.gov.au.
The paper sets out 18 questions to prompt feedback and information sharing. You are encouraged to answer the questions that are relevant to you or your organisation.
Next steps
Following consultation, we will consider feedback provided to inform ongoing industry engagement on the options and opportunities raised by stakeholders. A draft sustainable liquid fuels strategy will be developed throughout 2023 and released for consultation in 2024.
