Munna Creek Solar Farm proposal
Have your say on the application for a generation authority for the Munna Creek Solar Farm project and its connection to the Ergon electricity network.
The Munna Creek Solar Farm is a renewable energy project located in the Fraser Coast Region, approximately 38kms south-east of Gympie. Construction of the generating plant started in May 2024 and infrastructure testing is due to start in June 2025. To operate the plant, the applicant, Munna Creek Solar Farm Investment Pty Ltd as trustee for Munna Creek Solar Farm Trust must have a generation authority.
We are inviting feedback on this application to connect the generating plant to a distribution network. The connection will be via the existing Woolooga – Mungar 132KV (kilovolt) line operated by Ergon Energy and will have a nameplate rating of 154MW (megawatt) with a maximum capacity of 120MW at the connection point.
Submissions will close at 5pm on 30 May 2025. Any submissions that are lodged after this time will not be considered.
Permission requirements
Unless the infrastructure is to be located wholly on land the applicants own or lease, the operator must apply to Queensland Treasury and be granted a generation authority under 179 of the Electricity Act 1994.
We must then seek feedback on the application from the public, including people who might be affected by or interested in the project.
Once feedback and other relevant matters have been considered, we will decide whether to issue a generation authority to the applicant to proceed with the proposed electricity generation activity.
Have your say
We are seeking feedback from the public about the application to assess:
- the suitability of
- the applicants to hold a generation authority
- the owner (also the applicants) to be the owner
- other matters to be considered under section 180 of the Act.
