Proposed Electricity Generation Authority – MacIntyre UJV Operator Pty Ltd (MacIntyre Wind Farm)
Under the Electricity Act 1994 (the Act), the Regulator (i.e. the Director-General of the Department of Energy and Climate) issues authorities (licences) for electricity generation activities.
When an applicant applies for an Electricity Generation Authority to generate electricity and connect to the transmission or distribution network, the Regulator must invite interested persons to make submissions about the application.
What is proposed
MacIntyre UJV Operator Pty Ltd (the applicant) has applied for a generation authority under section 179 of the Act, to authorise the operation of their wind farm and the connection to the Powerlink transmission network. The wind farm will connect to the transmission network via the Tummaville Terminal Station. The wind farm has a total nameplate rating of 923.4 megawatts.
The Regulator is seeking feedback from interested persons with regards to the application for the electricity generation authority. The Regulator is interested in matters that may impact on the suitability of the applicant to be a holder of a generation authority and the owner (also the applicant) to be the owner, as well as the other issues the Regulator must consider under section 180 of the Act.
Further details are available in the Application for Electricity Generation Authority information paper (PDF, 309.77 KB).
