Ministerial Fuels Council
The Ministerial Fuels Council (the Council) provides a forum for industry leaders to provide input into Queensland’s energy plan and to drive investment in future fuels, reduce emissions and create secure jobs.
The Council’s priorities include preparing Queensland for decarbonisation of fuels and fuel supply chains; empowering customers for an affordable transition to low or zero emissions fuels and ensuring fuel security and supporting domestic refining capabilities.

Ministerial Fuels Council—19 October 2021
Members of the Queensland Ministerial Fuels Council held its inaugural meeting online on 19 October 2021 to discuss the government’s development of an energy plan to outline its transformation pathway to 2030 and beyond.
The Fuels Council agreed to provide strategic input to the Queensland energy plan commissioned by the Premier in June 2021, particularly the pathway to the future of fuels.
The Fuels Council’s intent is to ensure the plan aligns with the members’ collective priorities for Queensland including in driving investment into the future of fuels, ensuring a smooth and fair transformation, reducing emissions and creating and sustaining decent and secure jobs.
Fuels Council members discussed emerging opportunities and challenges from Queensland’s and various industries’ commmitments towards the decarbonisation of fuel supply chains and maintaining our fuel security.
Fuels Council members will provide feedback out of session on important considerations to prepare Queensland for an affordable adoption of low or zero emissions future fuels.
The members agree to work together towards a shared sense of the opportunities this transformation presents.
The Minister thanked the Fuels Council for engaging early in the development of the energy plan and looks forward to future meetings to progress shared priorities.
